Note: The following post and video obviously contain spoilers for The Force Awakens. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally upon us, and if you’re like us, you’ve been diligently rewatching the entire Skywalker saga in preparation for the eighth installment. But maybe you don’t have time to rewatch everything before Friday and you’re struggling to remember what happened in The Force Awakens. Here’s what you need to remember before seeing The Last Jedi. As the first movie in the Star Wars sequels trilogy, The Force Awakens follows the events of 1983’s Ewok-filled Return Of The Jedi. There are some new good guys— Stormtrooper with a conscience Finn; super-cool Resistance pilot Poe Dameron and his fun soccer ball droid, BB-8; and the true star of our story, Rey—and some familiar faces (Leia, Han, and Chewbacca all return for some action). They’re all fighting the evil First Order, led by Kylo Ren, a suspiciously Darth Vader-like villain. Grand adventure ensues, and we learn about the new characters, while saying goodbye to some old ones, and end up leaving with a whole host of new questions.
